History of Cinderella Beds

The Beginning of a Dream

It all started over 15 years ago at the Glenn Furniture factory in Indonesia. One of our clients asked us to design a bed unlike anything they had ever seen — a centerpiece that would make a statement and tell a story. From that request came the very first Pumpkin Bed, a design inspired by the fairytale carriage that carried Cinderella to the ball.

What began as a one-time creation quickly revealed something bigger. After researching carriage-style furniture, we discovered an entire world of imaginative designs that had been overlooked in the modern era. That was the spark that opened the door for us — a chance to blend fantasy with craftsmanship, and to bring dreams to life in wood.

Creative Exploration

With the Pumpkin Bed as our foundation, our creative team began experimenting with new variations: elegant curved frames, whimsical canopy shapes, and ornate carvings that echoed the magic of storytelling. The more we explored, the more ideas flowed.

This was possible because of the extraordinary artisans we work with — men and women who have been shaping wood with their hands all their lives. For them, wood is not just a material; it is as pliable as clay, ready to be formed into whatever vision is imagined. Their skill and dedication made it possible for our sketches and concepts to become living, functional works of art.

A Brand is Born

As interest grew and word of the Pumpkin Bed spread, it became clear this was more than a one-off design. Customers around the world wanted their own version of a carriage bed — some for homes, some for resorts, others for weddings or special events.

What began as a single project soon evolved into a dedicated brand: Cinderella Beds, part of the Glenn Furniture family. Today, Cinderella Beds represents not just a product, but a creative journey that started with one inspired idea and grew into a global offering of unique, customizable carriage beds.

Carrying the Story Forward

Fifteen years later, the vision remains the same: to build beds that capture the imagination, honor the art of traditional woodworking, and stand as heirlooms for generations to come. Every Cinderella Bed carries within it the story of its origin — a reminder that magic can be crafted, and that sometimes the simplest request can open the door to a world of new possibilities.
